If they kept that part in and got rid of the torture scene, nothing would change from the overall story. A character would get turned into a monster against their own will, the heroes would beat them up, and the victim would change back to normal completely fine. ![]() In fact, I kind of liked the idea, maybe because I saw that sort of thing happen all the time in many other games, including the Mario RPGs. In my opinion, Lilac's torture was far worse, because watching Milla get turned into a monster did not affect me. ![]() He mentioned Milla's mutation into a monster on in case you didn't pick up on that. Well, they've certainly succeeded on that front. Instead, the devs focused on making his so unlikable that players only wanted him dead. She only want to watch the main protagonist suffer, but her witty dialogue and her tough love methods allowed players to forgive her for her most evil deeds. Eggman was always planning global domination and the destruction of his arch nemesis, but he never did anything so evil that people labeled him a monster (at least in the games). In the Zelda games, Ganondorf is cruel and heartless, but he never stooped to torturing the heroes (at least when they were children). And there are good villain that are like that. By breaking that chaotic kind of evil, we could learn that even Brevon had standards and therefore make him more likable. From the beginning, I wanted to like this villain because he had a certain charm, but after viewing that one scene, that charm was lost and I only wanted to see him suffer (hence why so many of my works are Brevon Torture Porns). Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little realism to make a good story or a likable character. Why not just brainwash Lilac and force Torque to fight her to the death? That would stay in line with Brevon's evilness and it would have been less scarring. However, I believe they went too far with that torture scene. He is portrayed to be cruel and heartless, and his actions highlight that very well. I have to give him props for his analysis on Brevon's character. What would be the point of breaking that chaotic kind of evil, by just holding them hostage and doing nothing but threats? Would that really make for a good villain? Especially when he has already gone so far? No.Īs you get farther into the game, he does something far worse than that… he’s not a kid’s idea of a villain, he is a nightmare with no mercy or sense of justice. Then cutting down all of the rogue warriors who stormed the castle, BY HIMSELF. "The scene was the biggest message on the 3 central plot characters personalities, Lilac’s resolve, Brevon’s malicious behavior, and Torque’s weak heart.įrom the beginning of the game, we knew Brevon had no issues with killing or bending people to his will, this is shown through beheading the King of Shuigang in front of the beaten and submissive Dail, who he then brainwashes in order to gain the use of his army while he works behind the scenes. I wasn't sure what message that scene was giving, other than that Brevon is a jerk and that scene was clearly someone's torture fetish put in a kid's game (This may not be true. Given FP's poor story telling, I feel that that scene could have been altered greatly or left out entirely and the story would have been just fine. I believe it was necessary, and altering the scene would ruin the central message behind it all." ![]() "First off, I cannot speak on behalf of anyone else on the team, but I will give my own opinion on this. I will show the parts that intrigued me the most and give my honest opinions on each of them. While he is free to share his opinions, his reasoning for supporting the scene made me do some thinking. Seymour's (voice of Commander Torque) tumbler page and read his thoughts on an rather infamous scene from the game Freedom Planet (the torture scene). I know it's been 2 years and I may get some flack for this, but here it goes: ![]()
